DESCRIPTION:You are invited: \nJuly 5 – September 7 \nPublic Reception \nSat\, Jul 15\, 2023 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm \nOil Paintings by Dorit Brauer \nDorit Brauer’s vibrantly colored oils invite the viewer to dive into the world of the inner self with her collection of paintings titled\, Blossom into Being in the West Gallery.  She refers to them as her ‘love letter to life’\, allowing each thought\, memory\, place\, emotion\, or melody to come together through color to form a ‘tapestry of life’. \nPrior to painting\, she meditates to reach a higher level of consciousness\, which was explored in a British research study about art and extra sensory perception in 2023 for which Brauer is a contributing artist. \nBrauer studied painting at the Avni Art Institute in Tel Aviv-Jaffo\, Israel (1989-1993)\, exhibiting early works in Israel and Germany.  Her career continued to build in the United States with solo\, group and juried exhibits\, earning recurrent appearances at the Hoyt\, Stifel Fine Arts Center at Oglebay Institute and an Award of Excellence at the Manhattan Arts International Healing Power of Color exhibition in 2019.  In recent years\, Brauer has led Artist Residencies at Nemacolin Resort\, in Farmington\, PA \nSoul Song I\, oil on canvas\, 30 x 30 inches

SUMMARY:Unwinding Art Exhibition Reception
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the Opening Reception: Saturday\, February 16th from 1 pm – 3 pm at the Artsmiths of Pittsburgh and enjoy to see the new paintings of the Unwinding Series. \nWatch my newest video and Learn What Inspires Me to Paint. \nMy inspiration for the new paintings of the Unwinding Series is to serve as a positive catalyst by bringing light and playfulness to the viewer. \nI consider the creation of art a sacred ritual. Before I pick up the paintbrush there is a long preparation involving meditation\, sketching\, journaling and reflection. \nThese bold and colorful oil paintings emerged over the course of eight to twelve months\, allowing two to three weeks for the oil paint to dry after each new layer\, while working on multiple canvases simultaneously. \nThe viewer is invited to trace the unwinding patterns as they create a flow that extends far beyond the canvas. The eyes\, fingertips and\, soon\, the whole body may move with an inner rhythm that has been awakened. At this point one might feel the urge to move lightly or even dance! These paintings are an invitation to be in the moment\, listen within and follow the next impulse\, leading to a natural unwinding of the body and spirit. \nEverything in the universe vibrates; it unwinds\, flows\, and spins. \nThis constant movement of creation is present in our physical bodies\, it’s flow and change is essential.
